ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH THE CHURCH?
No, we are just tenants of their space.
IF MY CHILD PLANS ON BEING AWAY FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME DO I HAVE TO PAY?
Yes. There are no refunds on daycare fees due to sickness, weather closures, professional days, or holidays. Unfortunately, due to program ratios, we ask families to pay if they would like to guarantee their space is still available.
WHAT IS YOUR SICK POLICY?
24 hours clearance is required in the case of vomiting, diarrhea, fever (100.4 Celsius or 38 Fahrenheit) and administration of antibiotics
DO YOU PROVIDE ANY MEALS?
We provide two snack times a day, families provide the snack and a lunch.
WHAT IS YOUR DISCIPLINE POLICY?
To the staff at St. Barnabas Daycare, discipline describes the teaching/learning process by which children develop socially and grow to maturity. Our goal is to assist children in developing problem solving skills, self-control, self-confidence and ultimately self-discipline and sensitivity to their interactions with others. Every opportunity that may arise requiring discipline will be first a safety consideration for the child or the other children and secondly a teaching opportunity. A child will NEVER be punished, humiliated, belittled or harmed by a staff member, adult or child while in the center. The behaviour, not the child as an individual, will be discussed.
DO YOU ACCEPT SUbsidy?
Yes. Families can access the affordable childcare benefit for daycare fees. You can find out more information and apply at the following link: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/caring-for-young-children/child-care-funding/child-care-benefit/forms-resources
ARE YOU PART OF THE GOVERNMENT FEE INITIATIVE PROGRAM?
Yes. When looking at the fee chart we list our total fees (the larger number) and the parent portion (the smaller portion).
When do you contact me and what happens after I apply to be on the waitlist?
Your waitlist application comes directly to our inbox, we print it, put it in a binder according to date. We only contact you when we come across your child's name for a space at our centre. We also call you once a year (spring time) to ensure that you wish to remain on our waitlist, which helps us keep our list as tight as possible.
HOw long is your waitlist and what are the average wait times?
Our under three program waitlist is quite extensive with about 300+ people at any given time, making the wait in that program 1.5 years or more. Our over three waitlist is shorter with 100+ people on it, and a wait time of 6-12 months or more. Our out of school care list has approx 25+ people on it and wait times can be 6 months to 1 year or more.
How do I fill out the waitlist form if I am still pregnant?
Please use your due date as the birthdate and TBD or Baby for the first name, and use any gender you want. We can update your form after you have the baby.
